This is base camp for Girdwood Charter School. The place names in yellow are some of our favorite destinations and training grounds for children, teens and adults. Each offers a different kind of terrain, eco-system and learning opportunity.

The pictures below are from these areas and other destinations nearby.

Activities include: Hiking, Rainforest Ecology (study, inventory and mapping of flora and fauna), trailwork, building natural shelters, and finding food and water.

Primary elements of the curriculum include:

Wilderness Adventure • Ecological Stewardship Projects and • Multi-media Production: writing, photography, digital video and dvd authoring.
